VOLS GO 5-0 TO CAPTURE MOTHERS DAY CLASSIC TOURNAMENT TITLE
The Mt. Juliet based 11U Wilson Vols improved to 18-5 on the season with a hard-
fought tournament championship in the USSSA Mother’s Day Classic in Nashville. The
Vols went undefeated in tournament play, outlasting eleven other teams to finish the
weekend with a record of 5-0. “I couldn’t be more
proud of our team. They played fundamentally sound
baseball in all phases of the game”, said Mark Hill,
Co-Manager of the Vols.

After two impressive wins in pool play, the Vols were
off and running on Sunday after a complete game
no-hitter in the quarterfinals. After a 11-0  shutout of the
Tennessee Super Chargers in the semifinals, the Vols
won the championship game in dramatic fashion. The
team came back from a 7-run deficit and outlasted the
Nashville Vols 18-17 in a slugfest. The game was
decided in the bottom of the 7th inning when Eli Thibado lined a single to right center,
scoring two runs to give the Wilson Vols the victory.

“It was a complete team effort. All eleven players played an integral role in our
success. I was so impressed that the kids kept their composure and fought their way
back from a 7-run deficit. That shows the heart of our team”, added Derek Hunley, Co-
Manager of the Vols.
